Band & Brown Communications The Client The Band & Brown Group is one of the fastest growing communications networks in the UK. In addition to Band & Brown Communications (London, Norwich and Boston), the group includes online PR firm iJack and media training company PanMedia. Band & Brown is also the founding member of Bandwidth, a worldwide public relations network with more than 300 employees in 16 countries. The group has extensive experience of business-to-business, corporate, pan-European, IT trade and consumer PR working for a diverse group of clients across a wide range of sectors. Recent industry accolades include being commended by PR Week as 2002 Agency of the Year and a finalist in the Marketing Magazine 2002 Agency of the Year Awards. The Project Band & Brown Communications success has been built on a simple credo: to make a difference, you have to do things differently. They call it 'Communication without Walls'. Entering the project during the strategic phase, StudioCinna's Creative Director and the Internet agency's European Managing Director met with the chairman of the Band & Brown Group to view the existing print collateral, to discuss the marketing goals, the company image and the brand message 'Communication without Walls'. Band & Brown stressed that the main visual of the site must be a circular ripple which they felt best represented their brand message and that the 'look and feel' of the site should be different than others sites within their sector and they discouraged the use of visuals containing people. StudioCinna created a series of iterative design trials (some shown right), exploring concepts, solutions and design directions, which incorporated the required circular ripple and a version that was instantaneously discarded because the trial contained images of people. Though the client was receptive to the presented graphic ripple design trials, it became apparent that Band & Brown did not want to stray from a ripple created for a previous report cover (shown below) and wanted the 'look and feel' of the Web site to be created from the report cover circular ripple art. Using the Internet agency's strategic planning and hierarchical structure and the report cover circular ripple art, StudioCinna created the layouts for the page templates to accommodate the home page, the our business, clients (intro page and case study pages), services, team, jobs and contact us sections and the Band & Brown Group pages (philosophy, in Bristol, in Norwich, in the World and partners), designed the navigation and core site elements and teamed with the agency's site programmer through the build stage of the project. StudioCinna delivered the design trials and a series of page templates for Band & Brown Communications' first online presence on time and within budget and successfully achieved a 'look and feel' that reflects exactly what the client wanted. Client Feedback "Wow, at first glance I love all of these (design trials). Nice work." European Managing Director, Internet Agency "Catherine was great. The fact she is UK born and US bred gives her a foot in both camps and, considering our US origins but UK presence, lends her to understanding our needs. She has a very good presence yet is not brash in her approach. Her understanding of the web market and all the technologies involved in that plus her strong design ability is just what we want yet something that can be very hard to find. She does seem to be a little golden nugget!" Project Director, Internet Agency |
