Virtual Relationships The ODH Policy Ten years ago when StudioCinna become a virtual design studio, we adopted 'The Office Down the Hall' policy to help our clients understand that a virtual working relationship is no different to a physical working relationship within a large office building. Describing the typical workplace within Manhattan skyscrapers and the common working relationships that everyone within them adopts The conversation often would begin, "Imagine that you are in an office building with very long halls. Every time you have a question would you walk back and forth down the long halls or would you pick up the telephone and call the person's extension? You would call because it would be quicker and easier. A virtual working relationship functions exactly the same way as it would if StudioCinna was in an office down the hall we email each other, open files and discuss them together on the phone, we have similar office policies and our creative director's cube is just as interesting as it was within the office skyscrapers." StudioCinna was among the first to adopt a virtual working environment and as a greater number of twenty-first century companies adopt New Millennium Management with an Internet-era Mindset throughout their organizations, BC/COOP planning and are become Carbon Neutral we are finding less occasions to explain our "Office Down the Hall" policy and the flexible, responsive and cost effective benefits of virtual collaboration. Building Successful Relationships StudioCinna adopts the rules of good communication and asks frequent relevant questions, listens carefully and then asks questions that seek clarification, verification, motivation or specificity. We believe that effective communication is the foundation of every successful business relationship. It allows for an accurate exchange of information, eliminates misunderstandings and increases customer satisfaction, trust and rapport and maximizing the probability of building long-term relationships and future referrals. |
